Highland Raptor Workshop

Capture Stunning Professional Looking Images

This photographic workshop has been designed to capture stunning images of birds of prey in their natural environment.    The workshop will be held in a private woodland/ moorland in the heart of the Scottish Highlands close to Aviemore.  


Natural Wild Location

We will have access to some very stunning backdrops for each species we photograph. For Each species we Photograph on the day, we will have the choice of a variety of perches, stumps, mixed woodland, Scots Pines and heather Moorland.    


On the Day we will concentrate on photographing British Bird of Prey species, but we will have some very unique non- resident raptors and owls available.  Our Subjects will include Eagles such as the Golden Eagle or Bald Eagle,  Various Owls, Kestrels and Falcons.  The exact species will be decided before the workshop date. Last year we had Golden Eagle, Eagle Owl, Bald Eagle, Snowy Owl, Peregrine and the stunning African Martial Eagle.   

Group Numbers Strictly Limited

This workshop has been designed so that everyone has the opportunity to get a range of images.  There, will be a introduction at the start of the day covering our basic Itinerary, and information covering "how to photograph like a professional".  With each chance of species we will cover any hints and tips specific to that species including, composition, exposure and natural behavior. Tuition is available throughout the day if wanted. 


Experienced Professional Falconer 

On the day we will be working with a well known experienced Falconer who has been involved in photography workshops and filming for may years. There will be plenty of opportunity to learn more about these amazing species that we will be working with.

Cost: £125 per person. 

Dates: Weekend Date in August. 

Location: Private woodland in Aviemore Area. Easily accessible by A9

Equipment and Clothing: For this workshop a lens of around 200mm minimum and up to 500mm are ideal. A monopod or tripod is also very useful . You will also need a sturdy pair of boots we will be working in the outdoors, waterproofs, just in case as the workshop will go ahead in light rain... some of the best images happen in unexpected weather.

Payment: A deposit of £30pp will hold your place and full payment will be due 4 weeks prior to your workshop date. All deposits are non-refundable if you cancel your workshop.
