Scottish Seabird Adventure

Stunning West Coast of Scotland unspoiled Location with some of the Best Photography Opportunities

This Workshop takes us to what i believe is one of the best locations in Scotland and the U.K for Seabird Photography.  Although less accessible than other locations, including a very short climb up to the colonies, the little Island of Lunga often has amazing light for photographing in as well as the seabirds seeing so few people that they are very easily approachable.

Lunga is home to around 50,000 Puffins, Razorbills, Guillimots, Shags, breeding Fulmars, gulls and the odd black rabbit can be seen from back when the islands were inhabited.  For anyone interested a short walk will take you to the top of the Islands were the ruins of the old settlement can be found.

Group sizes on this workshop will be kept small most likely only 5 or 6 clients per workshop. This allows us all to either work as a group together or spread out and have time for individual tuition.

The island is very quiet at the best of times and it is very easy to get close to the wildlife  We will spend the day working on creating stunning portrait images, capturing behavior of courting, nest building and communication,  working on flight images.

We will go over Composition, exposure compensation, ISO, camera settings and tailor each of these to suit yourself and your camera best.

Workshop Travel Options...

The workshop has two options.  The first is.... the trip begins with our own chartered boat over to The Islands, this can be bumpy and not for everyone, but we will see fantastic views of Mull and the West Coast of Scotland not normally experienced.  With the odd chance at a Dolphin coming along for a ride.  We will time our journey for the best light with up to 5 or 6 hours on the island depending on weather/ tide times, giving us plenty of time to explore the full island.

The second option sees us using a chartered boat from Mull allowing clients to get on the first ore comfortable ferry crossing over, still with its impressive views.  With this option clients are able to still get the best evening light, however will need to stay on the Isle of Mull for the evening as the last ferry will be missed, this is excellent if you want to combine two days of Lunga, some sight seeing or perhaps a chance to find some otters.

These two workshops run separately so I am always with the clients. For those wishing to do option two i can happily provide details of cottages or hotels to rent as well as the option of the whole group chipping in for self catering.
